ABOUT US
Our adventure on SV Do The Thing began in June 2022 when we bought her in Shelter Bay, Panama, from John and his family who just crossed the Atlantic. Do The Thing is a Dufour Gib Sea 43 that was built in 2002 in France and has been since then very well maintained and equipped, she is fully autonomous as far as solar energy and fresh water for living aboard and has been since then very good to us given the fact we had close to no experience with sailing. Our journey started with the crossing of the Panama Canal to reach the Pacific Ocean, which was an extraordinary experience even though stressful when you have no experience ! Two years later we reached the north of the Sea of Cortez in Mexico after visiting some of the most beautiful places the Pacific coast has to offer. Not only the landscapes are breathtaking but the quality of the people you encounter among local communities is just amazing. Since we started, we have traveled over 3,500 NM along Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Mexico, stopped in 13 marinas and anchored in more than 40 bays. There is not a single day we haven’t learned something new as far as sailing or living aboard, thanks to the fantastic boating community around us and the generosity of the people we met. Future plans for the Do The Thing may include the crossing of the Pacific Ocean towards French Polynesia via Easter Island which would be for us a huge achievement then toward Japan which would be an even bigger accomplishment.
You have to Do The Thing now, or you may regret otherwise…
