Bahia Tenacatita
We left Bahia Chamela around 11:00 and headed towards Tenecatita. The sailing conditions were pretty good with a 10 kn westerly wind and calm sea. Around 5:00 PM we approach Bahia Tenacatita. The steep rocks at the entrance to the bay are magnificent. We anchor to the west of the bay in 25 feet of water, about ten sailboats are already there but the bay is quite large. The anchorage is definitely quieter than in Bahia Chamela, as the enclave within the bay is well protected.

At first glance, the bay itself appears ordinary, with dry, brown vegetation. It is only the next day that we would fully appreciate the beauty of this place. We enjoy the small beach located to the left of the mouth of a small river. This one goes up to a small lagoon located about 2.5 miles from the entrance, to get there we have to cross superb mangroves, we saw many birds but unfortunately no crocodiles.

There is a beautiful little restaurant to the right of the mouth, under the coconut trees the view is magnificent, you would think you were in Polynesia! The food was delicious and affordable: coconut shrimp and fried fish. Lot of locals and mexican families were enjoying the beach as well as the restaurant. Our friends Germaine and Khalil joined us on the 24th on their catamaran. We enjoyed a beautiful afternoon at the beach with them.

We spent a total of five days in this beautiful bay. On the 26th we left around 11:30 and headed towards Barra de la Navidad, about 15 NM south of Tenacatita. Once again, the sailing conditions were perfect; the west wind would take us to our destination in about 5 hours.
