Bahia Zihuatanejo
4-3
It was around 8:00 when we entered Bahia Zihutanejo after leaving Barra de Navidad two days earlier. Only two other sailboats were anchored when we arrived so we could basically choose any spot we wanted above a nice 20ft sandy bottom. It was our second time in Zihua but the first time in the bay. Two years ago we had opted for the Ixtapa marina a few miles away.

The view of the bay is gorgeous, with the hills in the background, and even though there are a lot of hotels and luxury houses, they perfectly fit with the decorum without giving the impression of an over touristic place. The view at night is even more impressive. Early in the morning, you can expect many pangas fishing around your boat, at first, the close proximity seems deranging but in general the fishermen are very friendly.

Accessing the shore with the dinghy was extremely easy near the pier with the Zihua colorful letters. From there you can walk 100m to the port captain for the paperworks. Following a very nice street with lots of restaurants that runs along the beach, you can access downtown Zihua. A few groceries are at a walking distance as well as a local market for meat and veggies. Bigger groceries can be accessed by taxi or bus. Very convenient was the delivery of diesel and water right at your boat in the bay. You can contact them on VHF65 of go directly to their tienda located next to the Port Captain.
We spent 5 days in that wonderful bay then resumed our trip south to Huatulco.
